I think being a Mum is really tough. Unfortunately, I have found the journey of being a parent to be really tricky as I wasn’t nearly as prepared as I thought I was. I was also bound to the beliefs embedded in my upbringing and some of those have made it hard to be a generous, thriving and loving person.
And on top of just ordinary parenting stuff, its been a journey to see how deep and fundamental gender roles and gender stereotyping have affected everything. I wish I had better understood that and learnt how to better support and mentor my own kids in being free of those and other baggage like racism and equally unhelpful judgemental attitudes.
So, I would like to take what I have learnt and offer some insights and other ways of thinking about living life and the relationships we have with each other and with ourselves.
I’m a convert of a return to collectivism where ‘many hands’ is the mantra instead of ‘its all about me’.
At the end of each blog I am going to list a couple of additional resources I have loved and hope you can check them out as you embark on the wonderful journey of life.
